I have tried three different 200-disc changers from Sony: two CX235 models and one CX260. All three were buggy at best, unusable at worst. The first would only pick up CDs about 60 percent of the time. The second picked fine, but was often unable to read the disc once it was picked, even though the same disc would read fine in any other CD player that I own (even the very cheapest). The third one I decided to keep (I guess I’m a slow learner), simply because I got tired of trying new ones and because the store would only issue a store credit for my return.
This last one picks and drops, but it randomly and inconsistently fails to play about 10 percent of my discs. Also, it often whines very loudly from too much wobble, especially between tracks 2 or 3 and 7 or 8. Attempts by a dealer to “balance” the player have been utterly fruitless. Sometimes it will wobble so badly that the CD just won’t play. Also, all three units that I tried suffered from bad firmware; they easily got confused about the location of a CD and occasionally had to be unplugged and restarted.
I am now convinced that toy manufacturers are producing finer electronics than Sony Corp these days. And yet…buyers continue to speak reverantly of the mythical “Sony Quality”. Where did that ever come from, and why does it persist? As far as I can tell, Sony has become a junk maker. Buyer beware. (By the way, I recently bought a Sony Trinitron TV. A switch inside went on the blink within three months. Until I see signs of a turnaround in the company, I won’t buy any more from Sony.)

Have been using this unit as a karaoke player (using the digital out to the video translator for karaoke disks). has worked flawlessly under heavy use for about 2 yrs in some what could be called enviormentally unsuitable locations for electronic gear. (smoke, etc)and it gets moved a lot, so I am very pleased with it.

I have using my unit for the last five years, and it has worked just fine. The mecanism takes a few seconds to load the discs but never fails and the sound quality is excellent. I have discarded my CD’s boxes and kept just the booklets for reference, so I have saved a lot of space and the music room looks ordered. Regular CD’s doesnt’t come with text, so I make back-up copies on my PC with text included which then the unit saves automatically so I don’t have to type each album labels. I’m very satisfied with my Mega-Changer because it allows me to have better and rapid access to my CD’s collection, classify it and play it the way I wish. Technically, it performs readily all the functions it is supossed to do.

It’s a great device for the Juke Box Music Lover and to have a Party and or just mellow out without having to move from your chair , the sound is awesome. it’s always a Sony
The only reason I am selling mine is because I have over 600 CD’s and 9000 additional Songs on an Ipod I converted to Ipod and it has changed my collection. If not I would Still Keep it forever and I would add more, this CD Player even has so you can connect two more Juke Boxes any amount of CD’s to it. It’s a great piece and easy to use.
I love the play list and the book , no more CD cases it’s a relief.

A friend bought one at a yard sale and gave it to me.
I initially had trouble with disks jamming.
However, I found the secret: Balancing the carousel!
Initially I had about half of it filled. It jammed several times
and I was discouraged. Once I filled the whole
thing it has been flawless for a month now.
I didn’t test it, but if you aren’t going to fill it you might try
spacing what you have equally around the carousel.
I copied all my CDs with Nero using the internet feature to fill
in the CD Text. I like having the titles display in the player now!
As you spin the dial the titles go wizzing by. Very cool.
The random play is pretty good; not as many repeats of the same
song as with other players I’ve tried.
The analog output is not great but the optical is.
I like the simple way you assign disks to 1 of 8 categories and how
easy it is to pick the category and random play within it.
I also have a Technics SL-MC7 110+1 CD Changer and it is a good player
but more difficult to work with CD groups. Better left as one group…
load it up with your largest genre!
